01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Distinctive craft gins poured into glasses meet the enticing aromas of spices at Dining Bar KANA in Higashi-Nakano. Set in a relaxed atmosphere, it offers the pleasure of taking your time over spice-accented homemade dishes and bottles gathered from across Japan.
To begin an evening of drinks, the customizable appetizer plate is an easy starting point, offering your choice of 3 or 5 selections from around 20 appetizers and cheeses. Among the individual items, the spiced egg marinated in 9 different spices is a well-regarded favorite, deeply infused with complex spice nuances that pair effortlessly with a drink. The menu spans everything from light bites to warming stews, including chili con carne topped with torched cheese, octopus and mushroom ajillo, and house-baked bread.
What stands out most here is the selection of domestic craft gins. The list highlights bottles from across the country, such as Yaso Gin, which blends botanical-rich spirits with wild herbs; Kikka Gin from Nara, distilled with Yamato tachibana citrus and Yamato angelica root; and Iki Craft Gin Kagura, crafted from Iki barley and natural regional ingredients. Whether served in a refreshing gin and tonic or poured over ice to appreciate the distinct aromatic profiles, each gin has its own character, alongside other options like wine and fruit-laden sangria to suit your mood.
When you want a more substantial meal, the spice curries crafted with original spice blends are not to be missed. Options like the spicy chicken curry with all toppings or an extra keema topping allow you to fully enjoy layered, spicy heat. Hearty mains are also on hand, including a 100% Shonan Miyaji Pork hamburg steak made with a rare heritage pork, making it easy to settle on a satisfying dinner.
The interior features an L-shaped counter and table seating, arranged to accommodate everything from a casual solo meal to a toast among small groups. The bar stays open until 24:00 late at night, and accepts payments by credit card and PayPay.
